Pakbet
Pakbet or Pinakbet is a popular Filipino stew made of vegetables, some meat usually pork, andbagoong (shrimp paste). The vegetables used in the stew are those popular in the Philippines such askalabasa (pumpkin), ampalaya (bitter gourd), okra, sitaw (snake beans), and kamatis (tomatoes).Bawang (garlic) and sibuyas (onions) are used for flavoring while the meat is sauteed. The bagoong gives the dish a unique salty, fishy flavor which balances the flavors of the vegetables.
